Manila Central University welcomed league officials, representatives from the nine participating schools, student-athletes, coaches, sponsors, and members of the media for the UCAL Season 9 Press Launch on September 14, 2026, at the MCU Learning Resource Center Building.
The event formally introduced the new season of the Universities and Colleges Athletic League (UCAL), with MCU taking on the role of host for Season 9.
MCU President Dr. Renato C. Tanchoco Jr. opened the program with welcome remarks, followed by the acknowledgment of the participating schools, their presidents and management representatives, and the UCAL Board.
A key moment of the press launch was the unveiling of the UCAL Season 9 logo and theme, “Unstoppable Together,” led by Mr. Javier Lopez-Sanz Chulvi, MCU Strategic Advisor for Athletics. The theme reflects the shared determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship that bring the league’s nine member schools together.
The program also recognized the season’s major sponsors and featured a special performance by the MCU Chorale.
During the question-and-answer session, members of the press engaged with league officials and representatives about the upcoming season, participating teams, and the preparations for the competitions. UCAL Chairman Mr. Horacio Lim delivered the closing remarks, officially concluding the press launch.
With the season now formally introduced, attention turns to the UCAL Season 9 Opening Ceremonies on September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the FilOil Arena in San Juan. The event will gather the nine member schools and feature live performances by Lola Amour and Matthaios.
As host of UCAL Season 9, Manila Central University looks forward to welcoming the participating schools and supporting a season built on competition, unity, and collegiate sportsmanship.
