Manila Central University Basic Education welcomed students and educators from Keisen Town, Japan, for the 2026 Study Tour and Cultural Exchange Program held on August 17, 18, and 20, 2026.
With the theme “Bridging Cultures, Inspiring Excellence: Strengthening Global Citizenship through Educational Partnership,” the three-day program brought together Filipino and Japanese students and educators for a series of academic, cultural, and collaborative activities designed to strengthen intercultural understanding and global citizenship.
The program began with a welcome program and orientation, followed by student introductions and classroom immersion activities. One of the key highlights was the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony, reinforcing the educational partnership between MCU Basic Education and Keisen Town.
Throughout the exchange, students experienced each other’s cultures through interactive activities. The Mini Olympics featured Filipino and Japanese games, while classroom immersion sessions included Pistang Pinoy and Ninja Village, giving participants opportunities to learn about Filipino and Japanese traditions in an engaging setting.
The Japanese delegation also toured the MCU campus and participated in reflection sessions alongside Centralino students. The program concluded with student performances, a closing program, and a final send-off. The delegation also took part in Peace Studies in Intramuros, followed by a cultural visit to SM Mall of Asia.
Joining the program from Keisen Town were Mr. Oba Kosei, Superintendent of Education; Mr. Yamanaka Yoshimichi, Principal of Keisen Junior High School; Ms. Matsuo Nana of the Keisen Town Board of Education; teachers Mr. Ikematsu (Johnny) Yoshitaka, Mr. Honda Takumi, and Ms. Julie Ann Nudo Yasunaga.
Through classroom immersion, cultural exchange, collaborative learning, and community activities, the program provided students with opportunities to develop communication, leadership, teamwork, and intercultural skills while building friendships across cultures.
The initiative supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting the shared commitment of MCU Basic Education and Keisen Town to building sustainable international educational partnerships and creating more opportunities for future collaboration.
