The Universities and Colleges Athletic League (UCAL) Season 9 officially kicked off on September 19, 2026, at the Playtime FilOil Centre, bringing together nine member schools for the start of another season of collegiate sports.
Hosted by Manila Central University (MCU), the Opening Ceremonies gathered student-athletes, coaches, officials, students, and supporters from across the league to mark the beginning of Season 9.
The program opened with the Parade of Athletes, as participating schools proudly represented their respective communities ahead of the season’s competitions. The celebration also featured the UCAL Season 9 Street Dance Competition, showcasing performances from participating schools.
Representing MCU, Ritmo Centralino delivered a performance rooted in Filipino culture and identity, earning 1st Runner-Up in the Street Dance Competition.
As Rafy Atar of Ritmo Centralino shared during an interview, “Ang Pilipino ay para lamang sa Pilipinas.” The group’s performance brought Filipino pride to the dance floor as Centralinos cheered them on throughout the competition.
Adding to the opening festivities were live performances by Matthaios and Lola Amour, who took the stage as part of the season’s kick-off show.
With nine schools coming together for another season of competition, the Opening Ceremonies set the stage for UCAL Season 9 and the student-athletes who will represent their schools throughout the league.
Congratulations to Ritmo Centralino on their 1st Runner-Up finish, and best of luck to the MCU Supremos as they compete in UCAL Season 9.
