Manila Central University (MCU), together with its community partner Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), conducted the TFCF Health Advocacy: Eye Lecture at Andres Bonifacio Integrated School in Mandaluyong City last April 18, 2026.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among children on the importance of eye health and proper vision care at an early age. Participants included learners aged 10 to 15 years old, who actively took part in interactive discussions and educational activities.
The initiative was led by organizations from the College of Optometry, particularly SVOSH and KTG, who facilitated learning sessions on the importance of initial eye screening using a phone’s flashlight, common myths and facts about eye care, and practical eye exercises that children can continue practicing independently.
Through engaging discussions and demonstrations, students were encouraged to develop healthy eye care habits and gain a better understanding of the importance of early vision awareness.
This initiative reflects MCU’s continued commitment to community engagement and health advocacy through meaningful partnerships and educational outreach activities that promote wellness among young learners.
