The ceremony was attended by close families, university officials, and notable public figures, making it a grand occasion.
Before Dr. Tanchoco’s investiture, a heartfelt tribute was paid to Mrs. Luningning Tanchoco-Estanislao, the 5th University President and current Chairman of the Board of Trustees, for her admirable leadership, particularly during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. With 69 years of continuous active service to MCU Hospital and University since 1954, Mrs. Tanchoco-Estanislao was awarded the Lifetime Service Award in recognition of her dedication.
The investiture ceremony included the reading of the Board Resolution by Corporate Secretary Atty. Diosdado G. Madrid, officially appointing Dr. Tanchoco as the 6th President. This was followed by the presentation of the Academic Regalia—comprising the Robe, Hood, and Cap—by Trustees and university officials. Mrs. Luningning Tanchoco-Estanislao also bestowed the Presidential Collar upon Dr. Tanchoco. Symbolizing the institution’s strength and wisdom, the University Mace was passed as a ceremonial gesture. The Oath of Office was then administered to Dr. Tanchoco by Dr. Julieta M. Paras, Director IV of CHED-NCR.
Dr. Tanchoco’s inaugural speech is the highlight of the investiture ceremony. In his address, he talked about his vision for the institution, emphasizing visionary leadership, student success, research and innovation, community engagement, ethical values, and global collaboration. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to his loved ones who were always there to love and support him. This investiture event not only celebrated the remarkable qualifications and vision of Dr. Tanchoco but also served as an inspiration for positive change in the field of education and broader society, bringing in a promising era for Manila Central University under his leadership.
