The Manila Central University (MCU) engaged in several significant events with Niigata University, Japan, aimed at strengthening academic partnerships and exploring collaborative opportunities.
On September 18, 2024, the university had the privilege of meeting with Professor Tatsuo Ushiki, M.D., Ph.D., the President of Niigata University. This meeting focused on potential areas for collaboration and highlighted the importance of fostering strong academic ties between our institutions.
A key event took place on September 20, 2024, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the MCU-College of Dentistry (COD) and Niigata University. This formalized partnership leads the way for enhanced academic exchange, research collaboration, and joint educational initiatives.
The signing was attended by prominent representatives from Niigata University, including Prof. Tatsuo Ushiki, M.D., Ph.D., President of Niigata University, Prof. Inoue Makoto, D.D.S., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Noboru Sato, M.D., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Mr. Toshiyuki Someya, M.D., Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Global Affairs. Our institution was represented by Dr. Renato C. Tanchoco, Jr., MCU President, Dr. Maria Lilybeth R. Tanchoco, Dean of MCU-College of Medicine, and Dr. Ma. Cristina Aurea G. Garcia, Dean of MCU-College of Dentistry.
In addition to the MOU and MOA signing, discussions were held regarding possible future collaborations with Niigata University’s Faculty of Medicine.
On the same day, we proudly attended the graduation of Dr. Ma. Therese Blanche O. Sta. Maria, a faculty member of our College of Dentistry. Dr. Sta. Maria earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Oral Life Sciences from Niigata University, marking a significant academic achievement for both her and our institution.
