The Manila Central University (MCU) College of Physical Therapy, in collaboration with Silliman University and San Pedro College, successfully hosted an Online Research Colloquium on October 19, 2024. Titled “Collaborate to Innovate: Empowering Physical Therapy Student Research Through University Partnerships,” the event aimed to inspire collaboration, foster innovation, and empower the next generation of physical therapy researchers.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Arvie Vitente, PT, DPT, PhD, MPH, GCS, FNAP, Program Director and Professor at Lewis University. His talk, titled “Navigating the Path to Publication: A Guide for Young Researchers,” offered practical strategies to help budding researchers succeed in academic publishing. Opening remarks were given by prominent academic leaders from the participating universities: Dr. Margaret U. Alvarez, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Research from Silliman University; Dr. Ana Julia P. Enero, Vice President for Academic Affairs from San Pedro College; and Dr. Ramil V. Flores, Vice President for Academic Affairs from Manila Central University.
Following the keynote speech, three distinguished panelists provided expert feedback on student research presentations: Dr. Kim Sarong from Silliman University, Dr. Maria Veronica P. Francisco from Manila Central University, and Dr. Theya M. Tablante, PTRP, from San Pedro College. The colloquium featured nine student research projects, each showcasing innovative approaches to physical therapy practices and contributing to discussions on advancing the field. The program concluded with closing remarks from Dean Dexter M. Sotto, MAG, COMT, PTRP, of Manila Central University, who highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of physical therapy research.
