Manila Central University (MCU) celebrated World Radiography Day 2025 on November 18, 2025 at the Helix Auditorium with the theme “Imaging Excellence: Empowering Patient Care at MCU,” inspired by the ISRRT global theme.
The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Ferdinand A. Mortel, Dean of the College of Medical Technology, followed by the keynote address from Ms. Peachy S. Luna, Program Chair for Radiologic Technology.
International Symposium Highlights
MCU held its 1st RadTech International Symposium, featuring experts from the Philippines, India, and the United States:
1. Dr. Cecilia Managhaya – Former Member, Board of Radiologic Technology
2. Mr. Richard Lirio – MRI Technologist, Cardinal Santos Medical Center
3. Prakash Umbarkar – Radiation Therapist, India; ESTRO Asia Awardee
4. Christopher Steelman – Interventional Radiologic Technologist, USA; former WRETF Chair
Speakers shared global perspectives on imaging excellence, patient-centered care, and advancing radiologic practice. A live panel discussion followed their talks.
Radiation Safety Training & AI Imaging Demonstrations
Hands-on safety workshops were conducted with:
1. Deranbieter Trading – Digital radiography systems, ultrasound, Cervicare AI
(Led by Joseph Cudiamat, Kimberly Latanafrancia, and Bench Morgan)
2. Philips Philippines – AI-driven imaging for dose reduction and workflow efficiency
(Presented by Jay Aquino, Bettina Soriano, and Leanne Balicudcud)
These sessions emphasized ALARA principles, safe imaging practices, and innovations in diagnostic technology.
Interactive Activities & Recognition
Participants enjoyed interactive photo walls and a social media challenge, followed by a recognition program honoring outstanding Radiologic Technology students.
