Manila Central University (MCU) proudly hosted students and faculty from Keisen High School of Japan for a three-day cultural and academic exchange program held from August 19–22, 2025. The visit highlighted international friendship, learning, and collaboration—bringing together Centralino and Japanese students for shared experiences inside and outside the classroom.
Day 1: A Warm Filipino Welcome
The program opened on August 19 with the arrival of the Keisen delegation at MCU. They were greeted with welcome performances by the Basic Education Department’s Drum and Lyre Corps, alongside local Filipino snacks that set the tone for a warm and hospitable start. At the Helix Auditorium, the official Welcome Program and Orientation included prayers, the national anthems of both countries, and messages from MCU’s leadership and Keisen’s representatives. Cultural exchange performances featuring traditional songs and dances by both Filipino and Japanese students emphasized the spirit of unity and friendship. The day also featured classroom immersion with MCU student buddies, a Filipino language workshop, and a guided campus tour, allowing Keisen students to experience both the academic and social life of MCU.
Day 2: Learning and Community Engagement
On August 20, the second day of the program deepened the bond between the students through interactive learning and community activities. The morning began with classroom immersion sessions, followed by the International Friendship Games where Keisen students and MCU’s varsity teams participated in Filipino traditional games and friendly matches. In the afternoon, the delegates engaged in station-based activities designed to showcase Filipino culture and creativity. These included a Culinary Station (preparing Japanese and Filipino dishes), Performing Arts Station (learning dances like Tinikling and Pandanggo sa Ilaw), Science Discovery Station, Arts and Crafts, Critical Thinking Puzzles, and a Sustainability Station featuring upcycling and urban gardening.
Day 3: A Celebration of Friendship and Learning
The final day on August 22 was dedicated to celebrating the success of the exchange program. The Closing Program featured inspiring messages from MCU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University President, and the Keisen High School representatives. An audio-visual presentation titled “One Journey, Two Cultures” captured the highlights of the three-day experience.
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, an exchange of souvenirs and gifts, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude from both sides. A farewell lunch marked the end of the event, leaving behind lasting memories and meaningful friendships.
The three-day visit fostered intercultural understanding, academic learning, and strong personal connections between MCU and Keisen High School students. It also reaffirmed MCU’s commitment to nurturing global partnerships and providing its students with opportunities to engage in meaningful international experiences.
As the delegation bid farewell, the spirit of collaboration and friendship remained—a reminder that education transcends borders and cultures.
