Manila Central University (MCU), in partnership with Avant Healthcare Professionals, officially launched the Alab Program on October 8, 2025—a collaborative initiative designed to empower Community Health Workers (CHWs) through specialized training and capacity-building sessions.
The Alab Program reflects MCU’s commitment to advancing community health, education, and sustainable partnerships. It aims to equip Community Health Workers with essential knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to better serve and support their local communities.
The program is implemented through the combined efforts of MCU’s College of Nursing, Community Coordinators from various departments, and the External Affairs Office, together with MCU’s partner barangays—Brgy. 143, Caloocan City, and Brgy. Maysilo, Malabon City.
The training sessions, conducted by our university, focus on enhancing the capacity of Community Health Workers in health promotion, disease prevention, and basic community-based care. Representatives from Avant Healthcare Professionals joined MCU administrators, faculty, and community partners in the launch event, reaffirming their shared mission to create meaningful, long-term impact through education and collaboration.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—the Alab Program serves as a model for how academic institutions and private organizations can work together to strengthen public health and empower communities.
Through initiatives like the Alab Program, MCU continues to champion its role as a catalyst for service, innovation, and social transformation.
