The recent Financial Literacy Seminar, organized by Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the Philippine National Bank (PNB) and Bitskwela, provided university students with essential financial guidance and insights. Held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the event featured respected speakers, including Mr. Miguel Salvado and Ms. Mengs De Guzman, both Executive Financial Advisors at Allianz PNB Life Insurance Inc., Mr. Chris Rodil, Business Development Manager at Bitget, and Mr. Jiro Reyes, CEO of Bitskwela.
These speakers offered expert advice on personal finance management, effective saving strategies, and emerging financial technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency. The seminar encouraged students to take a proactive approach to their financial well-being, emphasizing the importance of developing habits that lead to long-term stability. A key highlight was the introduction of savings accounts with no maintaining balance requirement, a practical option for students managing tight budgets, as it allows them to save without the stress of a minimum balance.
Discussions on blockchain and cryptocurrency also broadened students’ perspectives, presenting these tools as not only innovative financial assets but as avenues for potential career opportunities within the digital economy. The seminar drew many students from the School of Business Management and Computer Science/Information Technology, creating a tailored learning environment that resonated with their academic and career interests.
