MCU-COD holds its 1st Face-to-Face General Assembly after two years

After two years of holding the general assembly virtually due to the pandemic, the MCU-College of Dentistry conducted its first face-to-face meeting for AY 22-23 last October 7, 2022.

The event was titled 'Katilingban 2022,' a Hiligaynon translation of "union, gathering, collection, assembly," with the theme "Journey to Excellence: The Beginning of Dentistry Quest" to inspire and ignite the students' passion for excellence.

It was a full-day event divided into three parts. It began with a Career Orientation at the Helix Auditorium, where guest speaker Dr. Romeo Jacob Jr. inspired the Centralinong Studentistas with the wonders and beauty of being a specialist - specifically in Orthodontics.

According to Dr. Jacob, students need to have a dream, and it should be constant in their lives to have the direction toward success. He also said that success doesn't happen overnight. It entails a lot of hard work and dedication to be somebody in the future.

Moreover, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the PGT building kicked off the trade exhibit led by the Dean, Dr. Ma. Christina Garcia, and the Chief of Clinics, Dr. Jaime Mandapat. Also, Dr. Johnah Galicia delivered a short welcome message for the merchants and students.

The traders' participation allowed the students to examine and become acquainted with various dental materials. It also lets them buy dental materials at a lower price and convenience.

The event concluded with General Orientation, the Induction of the Newly Elected Dentistry Student Council, Recognized Students Organization Officers, and the Acquaintance Party for the Dentistry student body.

Overall, it was another fun, engaging, and successful activity for the students.
