Centralino Stories Turning Weakness into Strength

Turning Weakness into Strength

December 7, 2022

Ms. Dianna Marie E. Trias, RN, RPh is an alumna of Manila Central University with both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2011) and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (2016). As someone who has difficulties in science subjects, she continued to pursue a science-related course. MCU gave her a chance to turn this weakness into strength. She is determined to improve her weakness, be resilient, and persevere to be what she wants to become.

She became a Filemon D. Tanchoco half-scholar for 2 years while studying at MCU-College of Nursing. While she was reviewing for her Nursing Board Exam at that time, she would attend her Nursing Review Lecture in the morning, and in the afternoon, she would go to MCU to attend her classes as a Pharmacy Student. She represented MCU-College of Pharmacy in the 6th Patient Counseling Event Cup. She discovered her love for Research and Development during their thesis and laboratory experiments and was awarded the Top 2 Best Research in the Research Colloquium 2016, together with her group mates. She was also awarded the “Best in Patient Counseling of Batch 2016”.

She started working in their own company, DJM Grandeur Corporation, as a Company Nurse in August 2011 who focuses on the health and safety of the employees. She also worked as a Quality Control Analyst who monitors the safety and quality of the products. After becoming a Registered Pharmacist in August 2016, she became a Production Pharmacist for 2 years. In January 2019, she got promoted to Production Head. In 2020, because of her passion for formulating new products, she became the Research and Development Head and part of the Board of Directors of DJM Grandeur Corporation which focuses on developing innovative cosmetics and cosmeceuticals products.

She is affiliated with Industry Associations such as the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines Inc. (CCIP) where she used to be a part of their Program and Regulatory Committees; a Principal member of the Philippine Association of Pharmacists in Pharmaceutical Industry (PAPPI), and a member of the Philippine Society for Cosmetic Science (PSCS).

She continues honing her skills and knowledge by attending various pieces of training like International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Halal seminars, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Assessor, and Product Formulation in different countries like Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, USA, and a lot more.

She’s always grateful to be invited to be the Guest Speaker or Panelist of her alma mater and other universities, especially to discuss “Pharmacists and their Significance in Cosmetic Formulations.” It is one way for her to help nurture young future pharmacists and encourage their growth in the future.

For her, “Being a Pharmacist Formulator has the responsibility to formulate a product and to ensure its safety and efficacy, and not to make a product just to gain profit. you should always keep your integrity, always do what is right even when no one sees it and be prudent when deciding because the health of the consumers is in your hands.”
