At Manila Central University (MCU), research is a catalyst for progress, as it drives innovation, fosters critical thinking, and tackles society’s problems. It expands the boundaries of knowledge and equips future generations with the skills and insights necessary to shape a better world through evidence-based research.

Our vision is to empower our institution, staff, graduates, and communities to generate scientific discoveries through research that will be of universal significance, affecting the well-being of the Filipino people and humanity.
Mission
Our mission is to keep MCU at the forefront of institutions offering health science and professional programs that expose its graduates to holistic education and technology-based instruction and research.
Function
Our functions include Promoting Research Excellence, Facilitating Funding, Research Administration, Collaboration and Networking, Ethics and Compliance, Research Training and Development, Data Management, Dissemination of Knowledge, and Interdisciplinary Initiatives.
Research Agenda and Policies
MCU Research Agenda 2023-2026
The research agenda of the university is a comprehensive strategy or framework outlining the institution’s research-related priorities, goals, and objectives. Typically, this agenda is created and implemented to advance knowledge, contribute to academic excellence, address societal challenges, and foster innovation. It serves as a road map for the university’s research endeavors. It directs allocating resources, faculty efforts, and opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaboration by the Lead and Support Programs/Colleges. The research agenda is disseminated to the various colleges of the university so that their research can be aligned within the framework of the established research agenda.
The research agenda was primarily anchored on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations and also based on the research priorities outlined in the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA), the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA), and the National Higher Education Research Agenda (NHERA).

The event was hosted at the LRC Building, 4th Floor Multipurpose Hall, and featured both Oral and Poster Competitions. The competition took place from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Research Enrichment Course
Dr. Ramil V. Flores, March 24 & 31, 2023, from 09:00 am – 01:00 pm, at the LRC Building Helix Auditorium 2nd flr.
Chapter 3 Research Design and Methodology – consists of three parts: (1) Purpose of the study and research design, (2) Methods, and (3) Statistical Data analysis procedure. Part one, Purpose of the study and Research Design, relates the purpose of the study and describe the research design and the variables used in this study. Part two, Methods, describes the participants, the data gathering materials and the research procedure used in the study. Part three, statistical data analysis procedures, reports the procedure for scoring and the statistical analysis used to interpret the hypothesis.
Chapter 4 Presentation, Analysis, and Interpretation of Data – This chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of data that was collected for this study. In order to simplify the discussion, the researchers provided tables that summarizes the collection of answers of the respondents.
Chapter 5 Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation – The Purpose of this chapter is to summarize the study in the summary are; the review of the purpose of the study, the research methodology used, a summary of the study result and conclusion, and the recommendations that will serve as guides to help future researchers who also conduct research.

Research Ethics Review
In line with the institution’s commitment to responsible and ethical research, this policy outlines the mechanisms for ethical review, emphasizing the protection of human and animal subjects. The process is designed to support researchers in upholding ethical standards, while also protecting the institution and its community from potential harm or legal consequences.
Objectives:
- To guide the research proponent or principal investigator on the ethical considerations highlighting non-maleficence and the right to live; autonomy and respect for individual authority, and confidentiality which are to be duly observed.
- To safeguard anyone involved in research from being liable for any harm inflicted,
- To review and supervise the review process of every research proposal that involves human subjects and human participants, and of every research proposal that uses animals to collect data for studies.
- To complement the Institutional Review Office, as a clearing house on decisions to publish or not any finished research paper submitted for peer-reviewed journal publication.
